VIDA 2014D Installation Troubleshooting: Support for My Installer Users

Even though my VIDA 2014D installer is designed to avoid 99% of the issues common with manual installations, sometimes small problems can still come up depending on your system’s configuration. This guide covers the most common issues and how to resolve them.

If you don’t see your issue listed here, feel free to email me for help.

Licence Key Not Working

  • Make sure you entered the licence key exactly as provided in your purchase email.
  • Double-check for spaces or typing mistakes.
  • If your key still isn’t working or says it’s invalid, email vidainstallerhelp@gmail.com and I can reset or replace your key if needed.

Installer Says “Please Reboot Before Continuing” (Repeatedly)

If the installer keeps saying you need to reboot before continuing, this is usually because:

  • The installer checks the Windows registry for reboot flags (indicators that a system restart is needed).
  • Windows doesn’t always complete all pending tasks in a single reboot.
  • You may need to reboot up to five times for all registry flags to clear.
  • This process ensures that when SQL installs later, it won’t fail due to pending reboot flags still being present.

While this might feel unusual, it’s an important safety step that prevents larger installation failures later in the process.

Using the Latest Installer Version

Always make sure you are using the latest version of the installer:

  • Use the download link provided in your purchase email.
  • If you’ve misplaced the email or the link no longer works, contact vidainstallerhelp@gmail.com and I can resend the latest version to you.

Using an outdated installer can lead to compatibility issues, especially as Windows 10 and 11 continue to receive updates.

Installer Freezes or Crashes

  • Make sure you have temporarily disabled antivirus software, as some security programs may interfere with the installer’s operation.
  • Always run the installer as administrator.
  • Restart your PC and try again.
  • If the problem persists, contact me directly for assistance.

VIDA Opens but Won’t Connect to Your Vehicle

  • Ensure that your DICE drivers are installed correctly.
  • Double-check the connection between the DICE unit and the car.
  • If this is your first time setting up a connection, see my separate guide: [How to Connect VIDA 2014D to a Volvo Car].
