Step 1

Download Vida.iso from the Resources pages

There are two iso’s to choose from an English only version which is smaller and a Multi-Language version which includes (English (United Kingdom), English (United States), German (Germany), Spanish (Spain), Finnish (Finland), French (France), Italian (Italy), Dutch (Netherlands), Portuguese (Portugal), Russian (Russia), Swedish (Sweden), Turkish (Turkey)) – pick whichever iso fits your language needs.

**Make sure to double check the downloaded files size!

Step 2

Download Rufus from the Other Software Resource page and install

Step 3

Open rufus and Select the USB drive that we will be using to create the Windows installation Media from the drop down list.
NOTE! The usb drive selected here will be wiped in the process!

Step 4

Use the select button to find and select the vida.iso file downloaded in Step 1

Step 5

Select the Partition Scheme drop down list and Select MBR then confirm your Rufus software is configured the same as in the below screenshot, these should be the defaults once MBR has been selected and partition scheme changed, the only field that should look different is the device field at the top, which will reflect your selected drive

Once you’ve confirmed these settings click the start button at the bottom of Rufus

Step 5

Rufus will pop up with a window asking about extra windows configuration options, leave all these blank like the screenshot below and click on OK

Step 6

Rufus Will now warn you that youre going to be wiping the drive selected, MAKE SURE YOU WANT TO DO THIS!

If sure press OK to start writing the iso to the usb drive

The progress bar will start working up to 100% then say READY

Step 7

When Rufus says Ready at the bottom that means the usb is done, next is to eject the usb drive safely ready to insert it in the Target PC we want to install windows 10 and Vida onto.

go to the taskbar icons, you may need to press the more button and right click the eject icon and select your vida drive to eject.

Step 8

Insert Vida USB drive into the computer you want to install windows 10 with vida onto.

Find the boot menu key for your computer, it is usually a function key (f9 for instance) sometimes it is shown at the bottom of the screen during boot but if you cannot find it usually searching the term “(computer model) boot menu key” where you insert your computer model or manufacturer will yield answers

once you have found this key and pressed it during boot you should be presented with a list of available boot devices, find your usb stick and boot it.

Step 10

At this point we should be booting into the vida usb we created, if the previous steps have all been successful you should be presented with a screen like the image below

select your correct language etc and press Next.

Step 11

If you had an operating system previously installed your next screen might look similar to the one below

if it does select each partition option and delete them till you’re left with only one drive option called unallocated space like below

select new then apply with the unallocated space selected to create the partitions windows needs to install correctly, a pop up will show making sure you are happy with this, press ok, you should end up with a similar image to below

with the partition that is PRIMARY as written in the Type column of the table highlighted select Next to continue

Step 11b

Make a cup of tea, you should have a screen like below, just wait as this process can take up to an hour or two depending on hardware specs!

Step 12

once its finished it will ask to reboot then reboot itself, your computer should then try to boot from the hard drive we just installed to, if so, you should be presented with a screen like below and can safely remove the usb stick

it may stay on this screen for up to half an hour!

GETTING INTO VIDA:

  • Wait until VIDA logo in the taskbar (bottom right) has a little green “play arrow” and not the red square. The VIDA logo is gray and looks like a white V with the colored indicator over it.
  • Double-click the desktop icon “Vida All-In-One”.
  • On Vida’s welcome screen, type in “4”, then click OK. (alternatively: you can use “admin” but then you’ll need to change the partner group to EUR yourself, from INT… using “4” does it automatically.)
  • (Note: Login to  Vida with the username of “1” for International, “2” for AME , “3” for NOR , “4” for EUR.)
  • AT THIS POINT YOU CAN CONNECT TO THE CAR AND GET INTO THE INFO, AND/OR RUN A DIAGNOSTIC SCAN:
  • (Note: your DICE unit will power on when connected to the car’s OBD2 port…. plug that in first, it lights up, then plug in the USB into the computer. It’ll detect it like any other device.)
  • (Also Note: If you’re just looking for the info, at this point you can manually enter all your car’s info and still get into the INFO section. If you were just investigating/searching for info. on a certain repair or feature, or looking for diagnostic tips.)
  • Click Define Vehicle Profile (or click the “Vehicle Profile” tab).
  • Change partner group to EUR if it’s not already changed.
  • Connect the DICE cable to your car’s OBD II port. Some or all of the lights on the DICE unit should now light up and be blinking.
  • Turn the car’s key to position II on the ignition. Don’t turn on the car.
  • Insert the DICE cable’s USB cable into your computer.
  • Click “Read Vehicle”.
  • Wait for Vehicle information to appear. The vehicle’s VIN number will be displayed along with a photograph of the model to which Vida is connected.
  • Select Transmission type.
  • Select Steering type. This step is important. In many cases, the “Diagnostics” tab is greyed out and disabled until Transmission type and Steering type are selected.
  • Select Body Style (S.R. means “sunroof”, w/o means “without”)
  • Click OK
  • You can now click on the Information tab, to get into the info part of the program. This is area of the program that you can browse through all the details of your car.
  • (You can now disconnect the DICE from the car, and look through the info., or keep connected and run a scan. In the future, if you just want to look through the info, you can select your car’s profile, with all the info attached to the VIN saved, except you still have to select transmission type, steering, and w/ sunroof or not, and never even have to connect to the car.)

TO NOW SCAN THE CAR:

  • Click the Diagnostics tab.
  • Wait for VIDA to retrieve information from the vehicle (the screen will display messages such a “Verifying VIN” and “Reading Diagnostics Trouble Codes”).
  • Click Fault Trace.
  • Click Delivery. ON P3 platform, cars it may take a few seconds for Delivery to be selectable.
  • Review DTC codes listed on the Delivery tab.
  • Once in Fault Trace, you will see a “Vehicle Communication Tab”, this is where most of the programmable/calibration/testing cycles are.
  • BE AWARE, WHEN DICE IS OPERATING, YOU ARE USING THE CAR’S BATTERY, DON’T GO TOO LONG, OR YOU’LL DRAIN THE BATTERY. ALSO…. it’s totally normal for the ABS light to start blinking after connected for a few minutes. It won’t show up when you’re finished.

TO CLEAR THE DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes):

  • Follow the preceding procedure to read/scan the DTC for the vehicle.
  • On the Delivery tab, you may have to scroll down (far right, on the bottom half of the screen), then click ERASE ALL.
  • Lastly… don’t forget there is a very useful SEARCH tool. Just select “everything but parts catalogue” and type in what you’re looking for. It’s a life-saver sometimes
